Training Professionals

Our professional training is for people who walk alongside caregivers in their mahi. We help them become familiar with the tools that can support caregivers to create homes where tamariki feel safe, connected, and able to begin to heal. At the heart of this is the parenting attitude of PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy), held within a foundation of aroha, attunement, and relationship.

We believe in working in partnership with care organisations and iwi to meet the needs of the caregivers, whānau and tamariki in their community. We recognise the strengths, knowledge, and lived experience already within each community. Our approach has always been to offer training that reflects the needs, values, and aspirations of the people it serves.

Where we’re at right now
At the moment, we’re not able to offer in-person or tailored professional training due to capacity and funding limitations. We know the value of coming together kanohi ki te kanohi (face-to-face) to learn and reflect, and we hope to be able to offer these opportunities again in the future.

If your organisation is interested in kanohi ki te kanohi, we welcome you to get in touch so we can stay connected. Ph: 0800 693 323 or email: training@caringfamilies.org.nz

Our Professional Courses (when available)

Adapted for Social Workers and Other Professionals (8 hours)

This course creates space to reflect on why attachment and therapeutic parenting matter, and what this looks like in everyday practice. It brings together the voices of caregivers, professionals, and international practitioners in the field. You’ll be introduced to Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP) and the PACE approach that underpins our work.

Foundations for Attachment – Adapted for the Education Sector

This training is designed for people working in education and supports a deeper understanding of tamariki through a DDP-informed lens. It is based on the Foundations for Attachment programme developed by Kim Golding.
